Toby, I wrote the article on the Redbirds that was in the Marion Living magazine which you read and interviewed me by phone on three occasions. I am looking forward to reading your book. I too went to SIU graduating in 1964, and while living in WF I was a member of Firtst Baptist Church. I do know that while Nick Adzick was in WF he was our catcher. I can remember shagging fly balls for Rip Repulski and Earl Weaver. Earl never played a game in the majors but Rip sure did. I worked at the stadium as a young boy. I sold soda in bottles, from a metal bucket with ice. WF was my hometown until after SIU graduation and my wife Judy and I moved with a job.
